Dear Edwina JR.

Dear Edwina JR. is a heartwarming musical about the joys of growing up. Thirteen-year-old Edwina Spoonapple would do just about anything to be a part of the Kalamazoo Advice-a-Palooza Festival. While her siblings both have proof of their accomplishments, poor Edwina has nothing. When a talent scout from the convention visits her hometown, she trots out her musical advice, giving shows live from the family garage in hopes of finding her place in the spotlight. She is assisted by her older siblings, quirky friends and neighbors. Together, they set out to tackle the world's problems in number after hysterical number about everything from birthday party etiquette to proper table settings.

Edwina Spoonapple - The creator, director and choreographer of The Dear Edwina Show. A bossy yet lovable character with a strong, clear voice and good diction.

Becky - Edwina's enthusiastic friend and the top of the cheerleading pyramid for the Paw Paw Wildcats. A vocally non-demanding role, stage presence is important.

Scott - A neighbor boy who is helplessly in love with Edwina. He dotes on her every move and is bold with his emotions. A confident singer with strong comedic timing.

Kelli - Paw Paw's resident ballerina who is cool and sophisticated. No dance experience required, no one said she was a good ballerina!

Bobby - Edwina's new next-door neighbor who is friendly and compassionate. He goes out of his way to help others, and is outgoing and gets along with everyone.

Lars - An incredibly accident-prone kid who twists his ankle in the first scene. Good physical comedy skills are helpful.

Annie - The Girl Scout cookie-selling champion of Paw Paw. Perky, energetic and helpful with the know-how and resources to solve it in a flash.

Vladimir - Edwina's scary uncle from afar. A strong singer with impeccable diction, as Vladimir's lines are written with a "Dracula" accent in mind.

Frank - A rude, self-centered, bratty, offensive, disrespectful, socially inept child. An "over the top," non-singing role.

Katie Spoonapple - Edwina's little sister and a math wiz. A very important character who shows Edwina the "best advice of all."

Ensemble - Lots of featured characters and letter-readers. Many vocal solos where characters explain their dilemmas in hopes of receiving Edwina's advice.
